Papal preacher attacks 'Da Vinci Code'

VATICAN CITY - A Vatican official railed against "The Da Vinci Code" during a Good Friday sermon in St Peter's Basilica, saying the hit book was an example of "literary and artistic parasitism" in a sex-obsessed society.

Father Raniero Cantalamessa, whose official title is "Preacher of the Papal Household," made his comments in a sermon to an array of cardinals and other Vatican officials during a "Passion of the Lord" service commemorating Christ's death.

Hey-- glad you liked the pix you post here-- I took them in Paris in December 2004. IMHO, any book of fiction that attracts this much attention must have something to it-- even if it is simply the power to engage multitudes of people in enlightening conversations about origins of organized religion-- and the dangers of fundamentalism in any form. How timely!
