"Finnish research has linked inhaling fine particles during warm weather with an increased stroke risk."

Another reason to stay out of the traffic:

"We found that during the warm season, there was a positive association between stroke mortality among the elderly and current-day level of fine particles,"

And the solution?

"We suggest that on high pollution days, elderly people should avoid spending unnecessary time in traffic, whether in a vehicle or walking, especially if they suffer from cardiovascular diseases, to lower their exposure to pollutants,"
