PAVAROTTI 'CLOSE TO DEATH'
OPERA star Luciano Pavarotti is close to death from cancer, one of his four daughters said yesterday.
“He knows he’s going to die soon and often speaks of his greatest desire, to meet his parents again and finally find peace,” said Guiliana, 38.
The world-famous tenor’s weight has also dropped dramatically, from 24 stones to just 11 stones, she added.
He is in a wheelchair after surgery to remove a tumour from his pancreas, but “is strong and is doing physiotherapy to get over the effects of the operation”, she told the Italian magazine, Diva and Donna.
Pavarotti, 71, who has a three-year-old daughter with his wife Nicoletta, 37, lives on his Italian estate near Pesaro.
Last night the star’s agent Terri Robson played down fears, saying: “When I told him what Guiliana said, he laughed.”
