I have noticed that the NP highlighter tool does not highlight PDF documents, which can serve as sources for news stories. Any words of wisdom on this? Most of them are available as HTML, but not all, and it is good to have a blockquote from the original document , particularly if one cannot be found elsewhere. There are workarounds of course.

Hi Public Reader,
Save the PDF as TXT or RTF., then it should work ok. If you found the PDF via search engines, they usually give you a choice to read the PDF as HTML right there in the search results.
Hope that helps!

Not all PDFs have text available. IE, some use images. So, highlighting might not "work" in those instances.
For the one or two PDFs I've quoted I simply used the
(q url="URLofThePDF")Quoted text(/q)
tag set and manually copied / pasted the text. (The tag uses square brackets rather than parens, but you get the idea.)
Inelegant, but effective.
