27 hour surgery to remove 4 extra limbs from Lakshima Tata deemed successful

Following a 27 hour operation doctors say Lakshima Tatma is recovering from having four of her limbs removed. 

Named after the Hindu goddess of wealth and revered by her villagers as sacred, who sought her blessing, Lakshima was also the target of those wanting to sell her to a circus.  

The surgery is expected to prolong Lakshima's life and enable her to walk normally.
