Shannon McPherson, a student activist at Bryn Mawr College is
actively recruiting flash mob and smart mob volunteers via her
Facebook account and her social cause, "Decrease the Digital Divide"
group located at http://www.idealist.org/en/org/167491-0

One of Ms' McPherson objectives is to form a crowd powered force to
lobby for free or low cost mobile phone and internet services.  A
second objective is to use the free or low cost mobile phone platform
as a means to decreasing the digital divide and eventually enhancing
the lives of tens of millions of people world-wide. She has stated
that decreasing the digital divide in The United States and other highly
industrialized countries is very feasible.  Providing free or low cost
mobile phone and Internet services subsidized by advertising revenues
reduces the digital divide and yet, the telcommunications and advertising
industy receives a healthy return on their investments.
