Backpack Stuck in School Bus Door Means Wild Ride for 8-Year-Old

ROCHESTER, Wash. — An 8-year-old girl was dragged by her school bus when her backpack got stuck in the bus’s door. “We just saw her hanging there,” Dany Franco, the girl’s sister, said.According to witnesses, the bus driver did not notice the girl hanging from the bus.

“She said she was hanging on with the backpack and I don’t think the bus driver saw maybe,” Franco said.

“Me and my sister kept on yelling,” the girl’s brother said.

The girl was able to hold on until witnesses got his attention, but the girl’s grandfather told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News the girl was dragged hundreds of feet.

The grandfather said, “546 feet from my property to the bus.”

Rochester firefighters responded to make the sure the girl was not seriously injured.
