Presented by the City of Burnaby and SFU's Learning and Instructional Design Centre (LIDC), From The Heart: The Freeman Legacy, has won two top awards and three honourable mentions at the 55th (2007) Columbus International Film & Video Festival (Chris Awards).

From The Heart, produced by Rick Walker and written and directed by Rob Broad, depicts five remarkable people of the Freeman family that lived in Burnaby.  Through their lives, they had devoted themselves to protect our homeland and preserve peace in the world.

The film won the Silver Chris award for best interactive on-line production and the Ben Franklin award for the most creative and distinguished print material submitted with a film or video. It also earned honourable mentions for biography in the humanities, education and information, and children and youth divisions.

The Freemans was given the highest municipal honour by the City of Burnaby.  This honour had been only given to 16 citizens from its creation four decades ago.

Rayn,
Interesting stuff, can you tell us a little more about the Freemans? And how does an interactive on-line production work?
