Fuad Hassan passes away

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Former education minister Fuad Hasan died of
cancer at Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital here on Friday at the age
of 78.

"Fuad Hasan died at 03.40 pm at Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital. He
will be buried at the Kalibata Heroes` Cemetery in a military
ceremony," chief of the information and public relations center at the
National Education Ministry Bambang Wasito said.

The deceased is to be laid in state at his house on Jl Brawijaya 10 No 2 here.

Fuad had been suffering from cancer for the past two years.

Born in Semarang, Central Java, on June 26, 1929, Fuad was education minister between 1985 and 1993. (*) END
