Bill Gates is stepping up, again. Now he is taking aim at helping impverished nations increase the agricultural production, by providing $306 million in grant money. He announced his plan at his speech today at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Increased food production and crop yields have been identified as a critical compenent by the UN’s Millennium Development Goals (MDG) to improving the health and quality of life for the inhabitants of impoverished nations.
“The challenge here is to design a system including profit and recognition to do more for the poor,” Gates said, calling for a new form of “creative capitalism.”
