"We have to note that Israeli occupation is the core of conflict in the Middle East, especially in Palestine, and its has been admitted through countless UN resolutions," Marty said as stated in a UN press release.
The Indonesian permanent representative to UN made the statement at the UN General Assembly session to discuss Palestinian issue in conjunction with this year`s observance of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.
The observance coincided with continuing challenges to the peaceful coexistence between Israel and Palestine, as well as new opportunities for progress towards peace in the Middle East.
On the occasion, Marty called on all concerned parties to exercise restraint and refrain from any measure that could undermine peace in the region.
