Ah, love...how you remind us not to permanently alter our bodies. Pledging eternal devotion with tattoo ink is not often recommended, but in this case it was almost akin to relationship suicide: A man spent nearly twenty hours under the needle to prove to his partner of 15 years that he still loved her...by getting her face tattooed on his back. Her response? She left him...for his much younger coworker.

Maybe a tattoo of the divorce papers would have been more efficient? (

Alan had spent £870 (about R12 000) on the portrait of Lisa with their daughters Jade, 15, and Daniella, ten.

"She'll be on my back forever, thanks to the tattoo. It was my way of telling her our love would last forever," he said.

"I never wanted Alan to have my face tattooed on his back in the first place. I didn't plan to fall in love with Kaspars, it just happened," Lisa said.

Kaitlin, I like this story. It's good stuff.

Because it touches on an element of humanity that affects us all: the potential that our feelings are not reciprocated by others. i also like your funny comment about the divorce papers, sad as it is. i've been where that man has been, but no tattooing and only 7 years... and no marriage contract.

one way love, how do we fixeth thee...?
