NP Rank:
Internet full of crap? Does it have to be?
Recently, during a lecture by contributor kate I came to realise something. While the modern internet allows us to quickly and fairly efficiently filter and sort out the mass of mostly useless material available on it, there really weren't many places that encouraged critical thinking in normal people. Sure, if you really want to you just have to find a discussion group that meets your needs of debate. But no where is there a place that is popular and inspires critical thinking of the masses. So, the thought obviously came to mind, 'What can I do about this?'
Nothing really came to me at the time other than that I'd be bloody brilliant if I came up with this. Still nothing has come to mind, and closest I've seen to my desired outcome is NowPublic, which is still a long way off.
So the question goes to you. What do you think could encourage critical thought, and not just the mostly current mindlessness of the internet masses?
Also feel free to critisise it. I will welcome any and all contributions made.

As a somewhat vulgar puppet once sang, "the Internet is for porn!"

Well it sounds like you need a VIP model for this one. If you want to filter out all the rubbish and web stragglers charge a small monthly fee. It doesn't have to be much but it sure will weed out the people who just comment to comment.
The other idea is to only let people comment after they get a series of challenge questions right and people can be voted off by the community if they are just blabbing about nothing.
Good Luck!
