Dennis Fritz, author of Journey Toward Justice is on the list of defendants.

Dennis Fritz is the other innocent man in John Grisham's book, The Innocent Man. The Innocent Man is about Ron Williamson's story.  Dennis Fritz tells his story in his book, Journey Toward Justice. The two men originally convicted of Carter's murder were Ron Williamson and Dennis Fritz. Fritz and Williamson were later exonerated by DNA evidence and freed after 12 years in prison.
Their experiences are chronicled in  both books, John Grisham's first nonfiction book, "The Innocent Man," and Dennis Fritz's "Journey Toward Justice."

The plaintiffs are Pontotoc County District Attorney Bill Peterson, the same DA who put the 2 innocent men Fritz and Williamson behind bars,  in Ada, and Gary Rogers, a former agent for the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.
