Paul Tibbetts, 92, died in Columbus, Ohio after suffering small strokes and heart failure.At the age of 30, he flew the B-29 Enola Gay on August 6, 1945 from the Pacific island of Tinian to Japan, dropping the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima.
The explosion of the bomb, nicknamed Little Boy, devastated the city, killing 70,000 people instantly and injuring thousands more, many of whom later died of its effects.
