Yogtakarta police spokesman Adjunct Senior Commissioner Budi Santoso said here on Tuesday although the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) had officially announced the cause of the accident, the police had yet to plan the further questioning of pilot Marwoto Komar and the ill-fated plane`s other crew members.

According to the findings of an official investigation, the Garuda jetliner which crashed at Adisutjipto airport here in March, killing 21 people, was moving at nearly double the normal landing speed.

The investigation into the crash found the aircraft was traveling at 410 kmh when it hit the tarmac, bounced and skidded off the runway before bursting into flames.

"We are glad that the KNKT has officially announced the cause of the accident because it will facilitate further investigation," Budi Santoso said.
