South African mobile phone provider MTN has just launched a series of Islamic ringtones in Nigeria, targeting the West African country's some 70m Muslims in one of its biggest markets.

'Go express your faith,' is the line in MTN's full-page newspaper advertisement for its 'Islamic melodies'.

For €1.60 the faithful can download religious chants such as 'Allah's Exaltation' or 'Prayer against Poverty'.

With the big Christian and Muslim holidays falling at around the same time this year, MTN is also offering a selection of Christian themes, such as the carol 'Silent Night', remixed with a disco beat.
