I had never heard of the Christmas Markets in Germany.  Apparently millions of people from around the world travel there this time of year in-order to share in the festivities. With some 2,500 markets across the country it seems like a huge event.

The markets are a major draw, luring 160 million visitors from around the world to more than 2,500 Christmas markets. These temples to Christmas spirit also provide a needed once-a-year booster shot in the arms of local economies, with total Christmas market-related tourism spending estimated at close to €5 billion per year. Not bad for an oversized crafts and bake sale.

There are Christmas markets right across Europe: Germany, Belgium, The Netherlands, Sweden etc.  They're the best way to get into the Christmas spirit, particularly as there's plenty of mulled wine.

I found a beautiful German woman who said she has a great recipe for mulled wine.  It sounds like a great way to celebrate the holidays.

Are the Christmas markets in other countires as big?

... We certainly do love 'em.  But it seems a little odd standing around drinking mulled wine when its still 13 degrees C outside, with not a whiff of snow anywhere.
