Enthusiastic observers of the Perseid meteor shower got a beautiful display over the European sky last night. The meteor shower happens when the Swift-Tuttle comet passes the sun and ejects dust particles in its orbit. The last one took place in 1992.
The comet Swift-Tuttle orbits the Sun with a period of about 130 years.
