Philippine Moros behead 10 soldiers
I expect heat for this but it still needs to be said, what is with religious people that so many believers insist that everyone be forced to practise their religion? I also want to point out that this issue goes back to the initial invasion attempt by the Spanish in that territory (which was turned back by Moro Datu Lapu-lapu) and the later occupation and subsequent genocide by the Spanish and American governments. The Moro people of the far south have always sought to remain free from colonialist control and has thus far suceeded.
The dark side of all this is that certain elements of the Moro resistance have collaborated with sections of Al-Qaeda, some reports from the FBI claim that this connection was linked to the Oklahoma City Bombing by White supremacist terrorists the Bureau says met with radical Islamic terrorist types in the islands. In fact, Terry Nichols not only repeatedly travelled to the Philippines, but he also sought a mail-order-bride that helped him hawk his anti-government racist ideology at gun shows. The more radical elements of the Moro resistance one would think would directly contradict the aggressively Eurocentric philosophy of American fascists. But this is only the surface, deeper still is the fact that far-right movements, organisations and individuals in the West have long-standing ties with Arabic liberation movements whose primary focus is anti-Zionist struggle. Once pure hate and ethnic biases overtake the original reasons for liberation, political opposites in fact, attract. The result: illogical and unnecessary mayhem on a grand scale.
This is just the beginning of an escalation of American involvement in the southern Philippines under the auspices of "The War on Terror." Moro parents, hide your young.

Leaders of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) said its fighters clashed with the troops after they entered territory under its control in contravention of a 2003 ceasefire."

angryindian, you won't be getting any heat from me. This is a great piece of analysis: indeed, fundamentalists make great bedfellows, as their ultimate goal is control. The religious aspect (and sometimes the racial) is just the packaging of an ideological product. Ahmadsherif wrote on this subject as well.
