Tung Wan = East Bay. The winds from Typhoon Prapiroon are hitting Hong Kong from the East, so the typhoon is blowing straight in to Tung Wan.

UPDATE: 17:40pm

The HKO's regional wind chart is showing a change in wind direction from east to southeast. This means the eye has indeed moved ashore. The wind gusts at Peng Chau have been over 100 km/h for the last hour or so. The Ngong Ping reporting station (the Big Buddha mountain) is offline. After about an hour of 200 km/h gusts the Ngong Ping station went silent about 4:30pm.

Lots of holds at the airport due to wind problems. Ferries to Macau were cancelled this morning due to the Typhoon #8 signal being raised in Macau. KCR East Rail is delayed due to a fallen tree on the tracks. Light Rail Transit in the New Territories West has delays due to tracks being blocked by debris.
