Silver sixpence and a mid- 17th century atlas that I found in a rubbish skip when i was a child. The maps are by John Speed. On the sixpence LIMA below king George's head means that the silver was from a Spanish treasure galleon. Probably the "Nuestra Senora de Covadonga" which was captured by Sir George Anson in 1743. Anson became a rich man for life and Britain was flooded with Peruvian silver. Or rather Bolivian- as the silver was mined in Potosi.Anson: www.answers.com/topic/george-anson-1st-baron-ansonMy photo of Potosi:flickr.com/photos/71092566@N00/95306871/
