NP Rank:
Please help find my son
Daniel Hathaway was last seen leaving the New Age Traveller's site in Gretton Brook Road in Corby at around 5pm on Wednesday February 7 - the evening before he was due to go on holiday with his family.
The 44-year-old father of two has not been heard from since and police are now treating the investigation as a murder inquiry. POLICE have appealed for help from members of the public to track down missing new age traveller Danny Hathaway.
Northamptonshire Police called a press conference yesterday in a bid to reach out to the public and try to find anyone who may have seen or heard of the father-of-two since he vanished on Wednesday at 5pm.
Police say they particularly want to hear from those who may have known or had business dealings with the car mechanic.
Danny Hathaway, 44, could have had as much as £3,000 when he left his Corby home seven days ago to meet a mystery person.
Northamptonshire Police say it was not unusual for the car mechanic to carry large sums of cash because of his business, but it is not known why he had the money on him when he left his home at a travellers' site in Gretton Brook Road at 5pm last Wednesday.
He was supposed to meet a friend for a meal on Wednesday night and he was due to go on a skiing holiday to Austria with his family on
Thursday but did not turn up for either.
"We and his family are convinced something has happened to him, which is why we are treating this as a murder inquiry."
Mr Hathaway was last seen wearing blue grey coloured overalls with the words Just Transit on them, over a green t-shirt and fleece and jeans, which were oily.
Mr Hathaway is white with a tanned complexion, 44 years old, about 5ft 8in tall with a stocky build. He has short light brown hair, which is greying and is unshaven.

''This is not the first time a traveller from these parts has disappeared only to be found murdered. Lets hope this time its a happy ending.
New age travellers make up a small percentage of the travelling population, and there are thought to be about 2,000 such families across the country.
Northamptonshire County Council is spending £800,000 upgrading a permanent site for local travellers on land off Gretton Brook Road, Corby, and is also building a transient site nearby which can accommodate up to 20 families travelling through the area. Travellers will also be forced to pay rent and council tax in return for using
the facilities''.
Police are appealing for anyone with information to call 0845 700700. or Crimestoppers on 0800555111
