Pogues Guitarist Diagnosed With Throat Cancer

In a message posted on the Pogues website it was revealed that
guitarist Philip Chevron has been diagnosed with "locally advanced"
throat cancer. Chevron, who wrote many songs for the band including
'Thousands Are Sailing' will not be present for the bands upcoming
summer and fall shows. The message posted on Pogues.com reads: "At the
beginning of June Philip was unexpectedly diagnosed with a strand of
"locally advanced" throat cancer which requires immediate medical
attention. Though it is not yet known when Chevron will return to live
work, it is hoped that he will again be available towards the end of
this year."



The band set to tour the US later this year.
