A suspicious suitcase next to a garbage can on the SE corner of 54th and Madison prompted ESU and Fire Units to close off Madison Avenue from 52nd Street to 55th Street.  Police officers quickly cleared the corner while they await the arrival of the bomb squad.

It didn't take long for police to discover the suitcase was actually garbage.  Apparently it didn't fit in the public garbage can.
