Police plan to use the case of a
malnourished 5-year-old girl who was not immediately taken from the
care of her mother's boyfriend to train officers on what is and is
not allowed under state child welfare law.

I know this article is from earlier afternoon but when I came across it this evening I had to post it, even late. I am appalled that police visited this child last month and did not remove her from this home immediately! I can't believe they DECLINED to take her to the hospital considering the obvious danger her health is in! Appalled because you hear of other cases where children are removed for much less, even though in danger and I am not trying to minimize the danger they may be in when they are removed. My heart just goes out to this little girl. The hearts of the police officers (and paramedics, let's not forget them) should have spoken to them.
