The Police Complaints Commission is to investigate "very serious" allegations about misuse of North Wales Police computers

An officer from the North Wales Police has been arrested following an allegation of improper use of the force's computer system.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) is managing the investigation, it was confirmed on 19 June 2007. Meanwhile the officer has been released on police bail and is suspended from duty while the investigation is in progress.

Tom Davies, IPCC commissioner, said: "Very serious allegations have been made against a serving officer.

"I have decided the investigation needs independent oversight, and will be managed on my behalf by an IPCC investigator".
