Are Government Documents to be believed? Can you really trust the records of Offices such as "Aviation Security Intelligence?" Everyone knows all the 9/11 Conspiracy theories are obviously erroneous and untrustable. But what if the Government Documents begin to agree with the crazy Conspiracy Theorist ? There are two points of law that need to be used as the legal scientific method: Probable Cause and Reasonable Doubt. First of all as an investigator you need "Probable Cause" to investigate. There must be some evidence that is tangible to show something is amiss. To convict of a crime, especially a felonious crime, the preponderance of the evidence must be beyond a reasonable doubt. After considerable investigation into the events of 9/11 I find more than enough "Probable Cause" for an honest to goodness real criminal investigation of our Government concerning those events. But I have not found evidence "beyond a reasonable doubt" to convict our Government of the most unthinkable crime many Conspiracy Theorist state as fact.

The findings of the 9/11 Commission are questionable and I do not consider it a real investigation. It was intensely vague for such a catastrophic event. Perhaps much of the "cover-up" and vagueness can be explained by War time National Security needs. The good news is that more and more official documents are being released. Thanks mainly to the efforts of the National Archives.
The National Archives needs to be supported and applauded for their continual work to support our right to know. Their evidence is not opinion or idea, it is the documents of the Government itself. Anyone interested in facts (If Governments documents are trustable) can find there declassified documents which should be of interest to all.

Here is one example of the documents you will find there. The Government Censoring of Aviation Warnings leading up to 9/11.

The five warnings - called Information Circulars - were sent to the civil air industry by the Federal Aviation Administration to summarize emerging threats between June 22, 2001 and August 16, 2001. The 9/11 Commission, the Congressional 9/11 Joint Inquiry, and White House briefings described and discussed these warnings in detail; and the National Security Archive filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request for them in April 2004. By letter dated September 29, 2004 and received by the Archive this week, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) withheld all the substance of the warnings, citing five different exemptions to the FOIA, and blacked out even the unclassified information - such as the document titles and numbers - claiming that this information fits in the new category of "Sensitive Security Information."

The National Security Archive has posted on its website a side-by-side comparison of the information withheld by the TSA and citations of the same information in public documents such as the 9/11 Commission Report.

A recurrent theme throughout the 9/11 Commission's report is the need to prevent widespread overclassification by the U.S. federal government. The Commission found overclassification interferes with sharing critical information and impedes efficient responses to threats. The TSA's recent refusal to release its more than three-year-old Information Circulars and its decision to block the release of even the publicly-known parts of these documents serve to remind the public that the information-sharing recommendations of the 9/11 Commission have yet to be put into practice.

Good stuff. From The Guardian yesterday:

"The chair and vice chair of the 9/11 Commission, respectively Thomas Kean and Lee Hamilton, assert in their book, Without Precedent, that they were "set up to fail" and were starved of funds to do a proper investigation. They also confirm that they were denied access to the truth and misled by senior officials in the Pentagon and the federal aviation authority; and that this obstruction and deception led them to contemplate slapping officials with criminal charges."

Despite conspiracy theories, it remains fact (and has for some time) that the 9/11 Commission Report is grossly inaccurate. So much so, that many scientists have contested the official theory -a.k.a. Pancake Theory- to be impossible due to the rules of physics. No one at that point is saying that it was aliens that caused 9/11, just simply that the official theory is impossible. Recently FEMA and the official stance on the collapse of the twin-towers collapse has been changed to a more acceptable theory in terms of structural engineering and laws of physics.

The thing that helps drive 9/11 conspiracy theory is the gross inaccuracies that were reported as "facts". This in itself is disrespectful to the victims -gross inaccurate reports. I would have hoped at the very least that the government would have wanted to be as accurate as possible...apparently they were not thinking of the victims families when they wrote the report.

Out of respect for everyone, the truth and accurate history should be reported. Previously that was not the case. While it is taking time, I am happy to see some changes being made to more accurately reflect the events of the day.

Thanks to everyone for the comments! Here is a good site with some very good and logical explanations that refute much of what the Conspiracist put out. http://www.debunking911.com/firsttime.htm (hopefully this link will work). Not only do we need to honor the families of those lost in this tradgedy. As much as possible we need to support and validate our military and their families. This war is the result of 9/11 and it will all be in controversy for a long time to come. At the same time as citizens or journalist we need to gather sound information based on real evidence. Hopefully in constructive ways  as writers  or speakers  we can  forward that we as the people are the voice of Government and can make a difference. But information based on assumption or theory without the substance of evidence can be harmful.

Interesting and well put together article Ghost. Not a single reference to Sibel Edmonds, Valerie Plame or the Turkish consul.

This makes the report independant and credible. Not to say the testemony of Plame and Edwards are not credible just that they back each other up.

Ghost, I like this story. It's good stuff.
