Amien Rais not interested in joining the 2009 presidential race

"I may not renominate myself in the 2009 general elections," Amien said after speaking in a symposium at the Surakarta Muhammadiyah University here Wednesday.
Amien said he was still thinking of a new paradigm for Indonesia.
According to him, the formulation of a new paradigm will be presented to the younger generation who want to offer themselves as presidential candidates in the 2009 general elections.
In a discourse about a duet of General Chairperson of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) Megawati Soekarnoputri and General Chairman of Muhammadiyah moslem organization Din Syamsuddin, Amien said that would be a good combination.
"Pak (Mr) Din is a young figure who is flexible and popular. He also has adequate international experience," Amien said.
Pertaining to Megawati`s political tour, he said it was a good activity provided that it was done proportionally.
