Downer said last May OECD had agreed to invite Chile, Estonia, Israel, Russia, and Slovenia to start discussing the admisssion of these countries into the organization and offer Brazil, China, India, Indonesia and South Africa to be more involved in its ativities with a view to admitting them as members in the future.

OECD is the developed countries` international consultative forum to analyze and evaluate policies on economic, social and trade issues.

Langman will assume his new post in Paris, France, next January, replacing Veronique Ingram who has served in the position since January 2005.
