Everything that is happening in the land written here; from my blog at ConservativeINC.
From That’s How it Happened:
The three way pistol duel puzzle
You’re a cowboy, and get involved in a three way pistol duel
with two other cowboys. You are a poor shot, with an accuracy of only
33%. The other two cowboys shoot with accuracies of 50% and 100%,
respectively. The rules of the duel are one shot per cowboy per round.
The shooting order is from worst shooter to best shooter, so you get to
shoot first, the 50% guy goes second, and the 100% guy goes third, then
repeat. If a cowboy is shot he’s out for good, and his turn is skipped.
Where or who should you shoot first?
Um, I wish Boing Boing didn’t provide this link because I really am not sure what the answer is and it's driving me nuts. Any ideas?
Does anyone else worry about scientists doing something that will just end everything? Fight now they’re looking for black holes over at NASA. They also have the world’s largest particle accelerator working over in Europe.
It’s one thing for a kid to blow up his basement mixing stuff together
it’s a totally different thing for scientists working with bigger
science kits.
Fred Thompson responds to Hillary Care Part Deu (click here for video).
If the government were the answer for better health care we should
all just move to Cuba right now. What, no takers? Not surprised.
When a writer, Fisher, for the AP wrote a story about how La Raza
wanted to oust a member of the parks board in Kansas City she referred
to La Raza as a civil rights group and the Minutemen (whom the board
member belongs to) as vigilantes. I thought that liberals loved
protests and peaceful assemblings of people. Let’s let Richard Newcomb from News Busters explain why La Raza isn’t such a great organization:
Fisher refers to La Raza - an organization that promotes
the advancement of one race over another- as a civil rights group, but
allows La Raza to frame the Minutemen as an ‘extremist group’. Since
Fisher apparently cannot be bothered to perform any real research, I
shall assist her. La Raza is a Spanish word meaning ‘The Race’. The
National Council of La Raza is a racially-based organization designed
to assist and promote Latino interests. It is opposed to all efforts by
the United States to enforce it’s own immigration laws, and often files
legal challenges when communities attempt to evict the illegal aliens
in their midst.
Talking about liberal misrepresentation we have these two pieces from NRO. First we have this one by Steve Schippert that tells us that things are going better in Iraq then we are let on to by the liberal media. We find out that violence is down below the level it was at in February 2006
when an attack triggered a surge in sectarian violence. He also asks
this great question of democrat presidential candidate Bill Richardson:
Why is fighting al-Qaeda in Iraq not counterterrorism
but fighting al-Qaeda anywhere else is? How under God’s blue sky is
pounding bin Laden’s deployed minions in Anbar, Diyala, Baghdad, and
elsewhere “detracting from American security objectives in dealing with
terrorism”?
Talking sense to these people, while admirable, is not something you
should waste too much time on. Their voting bloc consists of protesters
who cannot tell you why they are protesting. All they do is utter
slogans, bumper sticker slogans if you will.
And from W. Thomas Smith Jr. at NRO we find out that Blackwater is back in Iraq. That lasted long.
Read these poll numbers first and then click on the showing John McCain:
57 percent of Americans who read or heard about
Petraeus’ testimony approved of his recommendations for Iraq, while
only 28 percent of respondents said they disapprove. A majority of
those surveyed (51 percent) also said they believe he presented the
situation as it really is.US News & World Report’s “Political Bulletin” highlighted
polling that found when “[a]sked, ‘If General Petraeus asks for the
troop level to remain in place for another nine months, would you
approve or disapprove this proposal,’ 54% approve it; 43% disapprove.
Independents track the overall response, with 53% approving the
proposal and 43% disapproving it. 80% of Republicans back the idea
while 67% of Democrats oppose it.”
John McCain is an American hero and patriot. This is how we all should respond to protesters like Code Pink. Won’t vote for him but I love some of the things he says.
Here is how Jason Whitlock has responded to the Jena 6 fiasco:
There are undeniable racial and economic inequities in
our criminal justice system, and from afar the “Jena Six” rallies
certainly looked and felt like the righteous protests of the 1960s.But the reality is Thursday’s protests are just another sign that we
remain deeply locked in denial about the path we need to travel today
for true American liberation, equality and power in the new millennium. The fact that we waited to love Mychal Bell until after he’d thrown
away a Division I football scholarship and nine months of his life is
just as heinous as the grossly excessive attempted-murder charges that
originally landed him in jail.
Oh, and he’s black so he can be trusted my liberal readers. Or, since
he isn’t echoing what you want to hear I guess it’s alright if you call
him an Oreo like was done to Michael Steele as Oreos were thrown at
hist feet during a debate. I just hope libs give this piece as much attention as I am sure they will give to Dr. Ahmadinejad when he speaks at Columbia.
With all the Blackwater hullabaloo going on private contractors have gotten a bad rap. Here’s
a story about a mother who, after dropping her kids off at school, goes
home and logs onto Jihadist websites and translates the content on them
and sells it to government agencies. Instapundit also has a link to a piece at Tech Central Station about a guy who set up a Jihad sting. Who says Americans are apathetic about the War on Terror?
From Greg Gutfeld’s Gregalogue:
Did you know that today is the International Day of
Peace? The event, established by the United Nations in 1981, was
designed to provide “an opportunity for individuals to create practical
acts of peace,” in order to build “cultures of peace for the children
and future generations.” What is a culture of peace? I don’t know - but
I bet it smells like patchouli and body odor. Why is it that
pacifiststalk likeretards- they create ridiculous jargon like
“collective progress,” and “planetary future,” - and then they wonder
why we want them dead. The fact is pacificists aren’t really peace
lovers. In order for them to exist, wemust fight wars. They’re
essentially parasites that depend on other to fight for their survival.
I am marking the Internnational Day of Peace by eating a hoagie and
setting fire to a yoga instructor. And, in other news, Maureen
McCormick, who played Marcia Brady in the Brady Bunch - confesses she
had a lesbian fling with Eve Plumb, who played her sister Jan. I’ve got
nothing to add, except Alice must be jealous.
I wrote this a couple of days ago:
These people are just so smart that they can’t find
morality. If WWII were two years away these people would have probably
invited Hitler to speak. Some people are just plain evil; there is no
reasoning with them and nothing you can learn from them.
Now we get this from the History News Network via Little Green Footballs:
Seventy years before this week’s invitation to Iranian
president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Columbia rolled out the red carpet for a
senior official of Adolf Hitler’s regime. The invitation to Iran’s
leader may seem less surprising, but no less disturbing, when one
recalls that in 1933, Columbia president Nicholas Murray Butler invited
Nazi Germany’s ambassador to the United States, Hans Luther, to speak
on campus, and also hosted a reception for him. Luther represented “the
government of a friendly people,” Butler insisted. He was “entitled to
be received … with the greatest courtesy and respect.” Ambassador
Luther’s speech focused on what he characterized as Hitler’s peaceful
intentions. Students who criticized the Luther invitation were derided
as “ill-mannered children” by the director of Columbia’s Institute of
Arts and Sciences.
So not exactly Hitler but I have a feeling that the only reason he didn’t come is because he had a scheduling conflict.
Here’s the Huffington Post fighting the good fight against terr- wait, against the American military:
Maj. Gen. Rick Lynch, commander of the Army’s 3rd
Infantry Division, said Thursday, back in the U.S. on leave at Fort
Stewart, that the war in Iraq is “a winnable mission” if the the media
would only cooperate.“If the American people are informed properly,” Lynch told reporters
after he arrived home on leave, “I believe they will be supportive of
the mission. But they’re not getting the right story. As a result,
they’re anti the war.”The media use a “filter” that downplays information about American
successes: “All I’m seeing when I watch TV … is the bad news and not
the good news.”
Implying that what he is saying is a lie is bad enough but just read the first comment from a reader:
Why should Americans support this ILLEGAL war, when they were lied to by their government about the reasons justifying it?
The ultra-patriotic bubble Americans live inside is the cause of
this current dire state of affairs, in America and Iraq. Being able to
break free of it opens their eyes to the truth.
Whatever, at least the poster understands that he/she or heshe isn’t patriotic.
And here’s some good news on the homefront; the DailyKos has realized that it is losing.
Since November 8, 2006, bloggers in left wwwLand have
been telling you elected Democrats how you should use your success at
the polls to defeat Cheney-Bush foreign policy, most especially how you
should force a change in direction on Iraq. Some of you have listened.
Some of you have pretended to listen. And some of you have thumbed your
noses at us. But that sneering is OK, because we’ve had some harsh
things to say about you, too. You’ve made us hot, and not in a good way.
I think that the war to end the war has now turned into a slog. Too
many people are dying because the enemy thinks it has a chance (al
Qaeda only reads the New York Times). Liberals need to give up now to
prevent further needless killing. Maybe they could redeploy to their
local liberal coffee shop.
