Britain to claim a million square km of Antarctica

Britain has just applied to extend its Antarctic territory by a million square miles at the United Nations yesterday (Wednesday).
This request is one of the five requests planned by Britain ahead of May 2009.
The claim to extend British sovereignty in Antarctica could spark disputes with South American nations such as Argentina and Chile.
