NP Rank:
The Collapse of the Soviet Union was Staged
By J.R. Nyquist
Since the tragedy of 9/11 we know that America faces a grave threat. We know about bin Laden and al Qaeda. We know about the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. What is not understood is that we face a much bigger enemy. A more dangerous enemy, unsuspected by most of our leaders and the experts who advise them.
Who is this enemy?
In 1984 a book was published with the title New Lies for Old. It was written by Soviet KGB defector Anatoliy Golitsyn. The book claimed that the Soviet Union had a secret long-term strategy to disarm and defeat the United States through a controlled collapse of the Soviet empire that would take place in the last decade of the twentieth century. In the book's most remarkable chapter, titled "The Final Phase," Golitsyn accurately described the future of the Soviet bloc. Communism would give up its monopoly of power in Russia, he explained, as apparent freedom and democracy would be introduced. The communist Warsaw Pact alliance would be dissolved. The Berlin Wall might be taken down and Germany united as "the key to progress toward a neutral, socialist Europe."
Controlled democratization and liberalization would be facilitated by communist agents within the dissident movements of Eastern Europe. As Golitsyn wrote, "the liberalization would be calculated and deceptive in that it would be introduced from above. It would be carried out by the party through its cells and individual members in government, the Supreme Soviet, the courts, and the electoral machinery and by the KGB through its agents among the intellectuals and scientists." (p. 339-340.)
Golitsyn's book has been dismissed as nonsense by CIA experts, pundits and journalists. "Yet of Golitsyn's falsifiable predictions, 139 out of 148 were fulfilled by the end of 1993 -- an accuracy rate of nearly 94 percent," according to Mark Riebling's history of the FBI and CIA titled Wedge.
The correctness of Golitsyn's predictions have also been shown by researchers and journalists reporting on events in Eastern Europe. These include the stunning revelations of Andrei Codrescu about the 1989 Romanian Revolution, in his book The Hole in the Flag, as well as revelations by Polish author Darius Rohnka in his book Fatalna Fikcja ("The Fatal Fiction") and the works of Czech activist Petr Cibulka.
We also have the personal analysis of two GRU defectors. The famous spy and author, Viktor Rezun (a.k.a. Viktor Suvorov), told Christopher Story of Soviet Analyst that the collapse of the Soviet Union was undoubtedly a deception. When asked how Western intelligence could fail to see this deception, Rezun answered, "Because they are stupid." At the same time, GRU defector Stanislav Lunev has also suggested that the collapse of the Soviet Union must have been part of a strategic plan, although he says the plan went awry and led to the unintended derailment of Marxism-Leninism in the former bloc countries. However, he admits, this is no obstacle to Kremlin strategy, since Moscow's communist era objectives remain unchanged with KGB officer Vladimir Putin at the helm.
Evidence of a long range Soviet strategy of controlled democratization and fake collapse for the purpose of disarming the West also appears in the writings of the high level Czech defector Jan Sejna. In his 1982 book, We Will Bury You, Sejna wrote of a plan to “convince the Capitalist countries that they had no need of military alliances.” He added that, “To this end we envisaged that it might be necessary to dissolve the Warsaw Pact, in which event we had already prepared a web of bilateral defence arrangements, to be supervised by secret committees of Comecon.”
The evidence for strategic deception is rich and verifiable. It is not material invented by kooks, but solidly based in reality. Americans do not realize the extent to which the Chechen wars were Kremlin-inspired provocations, openly alluded to by Russia’s ranking Chechen official, Mufti Kadyrov. They do not realize the suspicious backgrounds of leading Chechen Muslims, or the fact that al Qaeda’s Number Two man spent several months in Russia only to be released under mysterious circumstances. Could it be a coincidence that terrorism expert Yossef Bodansky alleges that bin Laden’s acquired nuclear weapons via Chechnya, from Russian sources?
The pieces of the puzzle are in front of our eyes. But Americans will not believe their eyes. No matter how carefully the evidence is laid out, the public and American officials reject the idea of an ongoing Soviet deception strategy to bring America to its knees.
A few months before the attack on the World Trade Center, Fidel Castro visited Iran. He said that working together, they could bring down the United States. It is significant that Russia and China are now allied, and engage in regular joint military exercises. It is significant that communist dictators are emerging in Venezuela, Ecuador and Brazil. It is also significant that Europe is slipping into “socialist neutrality.”
The danger is very great. But Americans will not believe in this danger because we feel superior. We feel invulnerable. Why should anyone conspire to destroy America? The answer is simple. The answer is that inferior nation-states, like inferior persons, sometimes hate those who are superior.
Julien Benda once wrote: “Our age is the age of the intellectual organization of political hatreds.” Now ask yourself who the organizers of political hatred are, and which nations have been targeted? Today, the central targets of organized political hatred are Israel and the United States.
First you hate, then you dehumanize, then you kill. That is the formula for mass destruction warfare. You don’t begin a war by nuking enemy cities. You begin by organizing hatred against target populations. You dehumanize your target. When you have united a large enough mass behind you, and they are eager for blood, then you can unleash your weapons of mass destruction. The world will stand up and cheer, and you will be its new master.
Hatred is a powerful unifying force. In his book, “The True Believer,” Eric Hoffer wrote: “hatred is not always directed against those who wronged us.” In fact, it is often directed at the good, the superior and the fortunate. Seeing that someone is superior to ourselves, we sometimes think ill of our abilities and prospects. “Self contempt produces in man the most unjust and criminal passions,” wrote Hoffer, who explained that hatred is often “an expression of a desperate effort to suppress an awareness of our inadequacy, worthlessness, guilt and other shortcomings of the self.”
If we look at the world around us, at the Arab world, the Chinese and the Russians, we find national inferiority complexes at work. And these help to explain the war preparations of Russia and China, and their justification by officials like Gen. Chi Haotian of China’s Communist Party Central Military Commission, who said in 1999: “War [with American imperialism] is inevitable. We cannot avoid it.” He also explained, “We must be prepared to fight for one year, two years, or even longer.”

History always repeats itself, and if you can live two lives, you have an even greater chance of seeing that repetition with your own eyes. During the last six years of my other life, as a Romanian intelligence general, the main task of the Soviet bloc espionage community was to transform Yasser Arafat’s war against Israel and its main supporter, the United States, into an armed doctrine of the whole Islamic world. America was our main enemy, and a billion adversaries could inflict far greater damage on it than could a mere one million. Islamic anti-Semitism ran deep. Our task was to convert its historical hatred of the Jews into a new hatred of the United States, by portraying this land of freedom as an “imperial Zionist country” financed by Jewish money and run by a rapacious “Council of the Elders of Zion,” the Kremlin’s epithet for the US Congress.
According to KGB theorists, the Islamic world was a petri dish in which we could nurture a virulent strain of America-hate. Islamic cultures had a taste for nationalism, jingoism and victimology. Their illiterate, oppressed mobs could be whipped up to a fever pitch. Terrorism and violence against America would flow naturally from their religious fervor. We had only to keep repeating, over and over, that the United States was a “Zionist country” bankrolled by rich Jews. Islam was obsessed with preventing the infidel’s occupation of its territory, and it would be highly receptive to our dogma that American imperialism wanted to transform the rest of the world into a Jewish fiefdom.
Before I left Romania for good, in 1978, the Soviet bloc intelligence community flooded the Islamic world with Arabic translations of an old Russian, forged, anti-Semitic tract entitled Protocols of the Elders of Zion, along with “documentary” materials, also in Arabic, “proving” that the United States was a Zionist country governed by Jewish money, whose aim was to extend its domination over the rest of the world. We also infiltrated the Islamic world with thousands of Soviet bloc Islamic citizens recruited as intelligence agents and tasked to implant there a rabid, demented hatred for American Zionism. They were to portray everybody and everything in America as being subordinated to Jewish interests: the leaders, the government, the political parties, the most prominent personalities—and even American history. Most of these agents were religious servants, engineers, medical doctors or teachers, and they had excellent credibility.
General Ion Mahai Pacepa, former head of Romanian intelligence under the Communist regime of Nicolai Ceaucescu.

The greatest enemy of all. Yourselves.

You claim not to be a Communist, but you support their causes, march in their marches, and by your reply you repeat the Party line.

Can you give me an accurate definition of Communism, Socialism, or for that matter Capitalism, Conservatism or Liberalism?
What party do you speak of? Are you accusing me of being a Communist?
Obviously my comment struck a deep cord.
"Methinks he protests too much!"
Unless you have something of substance to bring here please cease and desist.
Should you continue to attempt to "flame" me with personal attacks by
calling me something which is derogatory, and not true I will report
you to the Editors.

The Party of which I speak is the Communist Party.
I didn't accuse you of being a Communist or a member of the Communist Party. Rather, you are what Lenin referred to when speaking about those in non-Communist countries who would aid Communists in coming to power. Lenin's term for such people, who, once Communists took control in those countries, would be eliminated, was "useful idiots".
Examine your own beliefs and activism, and compare what you stand for with the propaganda of the Communist Party. I have no doubt they are nearly identical. This is not coincidence, and it is not collusion. It is rather the effect of manipulation. And it is not the Communist Party which is being manipulated.
What is Communism, you ask? It is the most sophisticated, well-organized, largest, most powerful criminal conspiracy in the world. Its goal is world subjugation, its strategy is deception, its tactics are infiltration and subversion.
Communism is the tool by which a (relatively) small criminal gang controls your thoughts and the thoughts of millions upon millions. Soon it will control your actions, as well.
Your indignation is by no means warranted. Instead of lashing out at me you should be coming to terms with the fact that you have been utterly deceived.

You see you canot define communism, nor give me its tenets. You, as many USA'ns throw the word about like a swear word and yet most really don't know of what they speak. They were just taught that Communism is the big bad boogeyman, and anyone who doesn't agree with the USA is a Communist.
Though I feel no obligation to respond to your baseless accusations I will take a moment to tell you something of myself. I am an entrepreneur and have been all my life, and appreciate a "free" enterprise system provided it is indeed free, as in a level playing field, and is, socially responsible, something your trans-national laissez-faire dog eat dog system certainly is not. I have a social conscience as well as a desire for profit, unlike the USA where profit is the be all and the end all, and your 40+ million poor live a life that is worse than those that live in destitution in the third world. If there was a word to describe a system I would like to see it would be Socio-Capitalism. Corporations in my system would bear the same responsibilities as any individual, and would be answerable under the rule of law the same way you would if you transgress. If people died because of the oil companies behavior in third world countries then the company itself and all those within the company connected to the crime right to the CEO, wherever he might reside, would be in court facing murder charges. Corporations would be required to be good citizens and the standards would be very high.
Communism does not work, state socialism also gets a failing grade but so does US Capitalism, which is on its last legs as we speak. Checked the value of your dollar lately, looked at your trade deficits, and national debt, and sub-prime crisis, and collapsing debt and money markets? Your fortress is falling down around you and wrapping yourself in Old Glory won't help.
This conversation which you began has nothing at all to do with the article posted, nor my original comment.
Both your comments are just thinly veiled personal attacks based on words you do not understand, against someone you do not know at all, from a country which you do not know at all, who lives in a different system than you do of which you know nothing. Just like your government actually.
I am immune to deception of the nature you suggest, and if there is a people on the planet who have been deceived it is USA'ns, a fact that global economic, environmental and political situations of your own making will soon drive home at a terrible cost to you all.
The problem for the rest of the globe is the ignorant foolishness of the USA will cost us all. Most outside your country are just trying to mitigate the coming effects on their own countries and peoples due to the impending collapse of the failed US Empire.

You are immune to deception? I've never heard of such a thing, but I have heard of hubris.
Sir, I stand by my comments directed at you in previous posts. If you feel singled out, know that the only reason we're corresponding is because you chose to reply to an article I posted. If you have only interest in developing a Utopian model for society, you may feel free to move on to other things, because I have no such interest. Instead I will add to the information I've already provided. You can comment or not as you wish, but since I already know the Communist line, anything you say will be redundant to me.
Here's something for others who might be interested:
KGB defector Anatoliy Golitsyn wrote in his 1994 book The Perestroika Deception:
April 1993 memoranda to the CIA
Page 164:
....contemporary Russian leaders have adopted the guise of 'reformers', 'democrats', 'non-Communists' and even 'anti-Communists'.
This has enabled them to persuade Western governments and public opinion that there has been a genuine revolution in Russia - whereas in fact the same government elite is in power as in 1984.
There has been no discontinuity, no 'Break with the Past'....
The 65 million or more former Communist Party and Komsomol [ed. note - Soviet Communist Youth] members did not disappear or change their views overnight......

More from Golitsyn
...Before we can understand the Communist role in strategic deception and terrorist warfare, we must answer one critical question: What is Communism?...Karl Marx and V.I. Lenin are widely known as the founders of Communism. However, not everyone who professes the ideology of Marx and Lenin is a true Communist. Lenin himself defined Communism as an international organization, akin to the Mafia, whose members would constitute an elite corps of professional revolutionaries.[40] As he described it in 1902, "In form such a strong revolutionary organization in an autocratic country may also be described as a 'conspiratorial' organization... such an organization must have the utmost secrecy."[41] Shortly after seizing control of Russia in 1917, Lenin revealed the secret of Communist success in a booklet, declaring that "The Bolsheviks could not have maintained themselves in power... unless the strictest, truly iron discipline prevailed in our Party."[42] Naive believers in Marxist ideology are constantly purged from the Party, for the organization can rely only on those people blindly willing to obey orders.[43] Communism explicitly disavows all moral rules, and its members must constantly shift tactics, sometimes even carry out seemingly anti-Marxist actions, as its leadership adapts the revolution to changing circumstances.[44] Thus Communists possess the fanatic discipline needed to carry out deception on a scale beyond the imagination of most outsiders, including staging their own alleged "collapse."
