Columbia Prof. Taunted by Lynching Noose Assault on Campus
Americans are really losing it. War and occupation does that to societies. - The Angryindian
------------------------------------------------
October 10, 2007 -- A bitter rivalry could be behind the hanging of a noose outside the door of a prominent black professor at Columbia University Teacher College yesterday, which police are investigating as a hate crime, according to sources.Sources said the sickening act targeting award-winning author and psychologist Madonna Constantine, 44, may stem from a bitter academic dispute with a white rival professor.
"They're investigating whether another professor put the noose there rather than a student," one source said. "They have someone they're looking at, another professor who had a rivalry with her and was jealous over the work she did."
"This is an assault on African Americans and therefore it is an assault on every one of us," President Bollinger said in a statement. "I know I speak on behalf of every member of our communities in condemning this horrible action."

angryindian, The US seems to me a disconnected society. A nation with many groupings who do not interact with each other. This (not interact with each other) is of course a means of survival. It does also mean that no one knows what is actually meant with the USA as a nation - the USA identity. This disconnectedness in my view allows for incompetent presidents like Bush to surround himself with even bigger idiots, with impunity. The groups that do care are simply to small to have any say or influence. Yes, this ongoing noose business is extremely disturbing and sad. Good stuff.

This is a typical Anti American post. Why is the poster generalizing all Americans. This isn't news coverage.
This is typical for nowpublic to let this attack on all Americans to go unchallenged. What a Joke.

No one is putting all American people into one pot. angryindian talks about this ghastly noose business of which more are tuning up almost by the day in your country. I am making the observation that American society seems to be divided into groupings that do not interact with each other. This phenomenon by the way is not unique to the USA. uan114 what exactly is your point?.

The poster states Americans with an S are losing it. Which means all Americans. Well I don't know how many people have put up nooses but to paint all Americans as losing it is insulting. And I take offense to some from other countries calling my President an idiot whether I agree with him or not. Some here are so easily insulted but never think twice about insulting others or their country.

It could mean: all, most or some, It was probably meant as a figure of speech and not as a mathematical certainty. I apologise for calling your president an idiot.

I do not agree with most of the Bush agenda but I insist on a little respect he is not an idiot just ask the Democrats who he has outsmarted and defeated for 7 yrs now. Apology accepted.

Why? Free speech means having the right to call the American president an idiot when he acts like one. At least that what the U.S. says when they encourage people in other nations to stand up against their leaders and call them anything from dictator to idiot and anything in between.
