On Wednesday, 21 November 2007, both opposition and pro government students marched on Caracas to express their views on Constitutional Reform. As referendum day approaches, opposition students have changed their initial stand on reform. After rejecting its celebration, they now urge their followers to participate and vote rejecting the proposed draft constitution. Traditional parties have adopted this change in tactics too since last week. Some opposition analysts recommended they discarded their abstention stand for the promotion of a participatory vote. Their statistics show that if all opposition forces manage to entice indecisive electorate, a rejection vote might take place on 2 December 2007. No wonder, the ex communist Tupamaro party at Sucre State- Eastern Venezuela - joined forces with the opposition and rejected the constitutional reform today.

The pro government students marched all the way to the Presidential palace to show their support. After arriving in Venezuela from an international tour to Saudi Arabia, Iran, France, Portugal and Cuba, President Hugo Chavez himself greeted them at night. He claimed a new kind of Student Movement has been born. However, just few days ago, pro government students lost at elections held at Universidad Central de Venezuela. Pro Government students have argued they are by far bigger nationalwide than traditional student unions as their cadres include people attending social programmes called Misiones.
