"I continue to think about why the cost of the democratic process has been as high as tens of trillions of rupiah. Why don`t we devise a more efficient system," the president said in his directives to a regular course of the National Resilience Institute (Lemhannas) here on Thursday.
He said past legislative, presidential and vice presidential elections were too expensive and lasted too long. The people were disadvantaged because the events had cost a lot of money and caused candidates` supporters to become divided into so many partisan camps.
"I think the political process should not be too expensive and should not last too long. It`s tiring. The people became divided because of differences in political views," the president said.
