Golkar intent on winning 30 pct of votes in 2009

"We hope the target can be reached if Golkar can consolidate itself maximally. The party is also expected to increase its capability to struggle for the people`s welfare," he said.

Concerning another system for selection of a presidential candidate as the convention model would be abandoned, Agung said Golkar would decide its candidate through a survey mechanism.

"When a candidate has been selected, all the party`s cadres must support the selected candidate," he said.

He said Golkar was of the opinion that whoever was selected through the survey both in the elections of the president and regional heads, the party must support him or her.
