House agree Djoko Santoso as TNI chief
"With regard to the approval of Djoko Santoso, our faction calls for attention to three important notes, spokesman for the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) faction Andreas H Pareira said.
Firstly, he said, PDI-P asked the TNI Chief to stick to a commitment to avoid involvement in practical politics, including the legislative and presidential general elections in 2009, both directly and indirectly, overtly and covertly, as he has explained during the fit and proper test earlier in the day.
Secondly, the prospective Military Chief needs to have a commitment to settle once and for all various problems being talked about by the people namely the main armament system, the ambulance import case, and some other cases.
"Thirdly, he needs always follow the political decisions of the civil authorities, including in setting state defense strategy policies and related matters," he said.
