Shanghai (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian Embassy in Beijing is planning
to open a consular office in Shanghai next year in an effort to help
Indonesian citizens handle their immigration documents.

"The aim of the opening of the consular office is to provide facilities
for Indonesian citizens so that they could handle their immigration
documents easily without the need to go to Beijing," Indonesian Deputy
Chief of Mission in Beijing, Mohammad Oemar, said here on Saturday.

He said that the consular office would be opened in Shanghai because
the number of Indonesians staying in the Chinese city was big,
consisting of secondary students, university students, workers and
employees of Indonesian companies having office in Shanghai.

Oemar said there were about 2,000 Indonesians staying in Shanghai. Most
of them were students. There was also a number of Indonesians who had
married to foreigners. (*) END
