Japan to recognise Palestinian nationality

"Considering that the Palestinian Authority has established a quasi-state system and issues its own passports, the ministry decided to accept the Palestinian nationality," a justice ministry official told AFP.

The decision follows a recommendation by a ruling party panel on nationality that Palestinians should no longer be treated as stateless, he said.

Japan approved Palestinian passports in 2002.
