The two-time White House candidate notified a close circle of senior advisers that he planned to make the announcement at a 1 p.m. EST event in New Orleans that had been billed as a speech on poverty, according to two aides. The decision came after Edwards lost the four states to hold nominating contests so far to rivals who stole the spotlight from the beginning - Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama.
Ah, the demagogue who would be king has seen the futility of his ways. Mr Edwards failed to inspire a wide following because he was primarily an
issues campaigner. Certainly his policies attracted a loyal core of policy-oriented supporters, but his attempts at image building came across as tepid and lame. Let's face it, poverty is not sexy. And rabble-rousing doesn't qualify as inspiration. How are you going to persuade people to vote their 401(k)s down the toilet? If only he had kept it vague and fluffy he might have had a chance. At least now he can go back to his regular hairdresser.

And as op-ed, it belongs in the "Opinion" section.

slenderdog, this is an opinion article and should be filed as such. I'll happily remove the flag when that it done.
