Kalla congratulates Megawati on her nomination for presidency

"Congratulations to Mrs. Megawati Soekarnoputri on her nomination," Kalla, who is also chairman of the Golkar Party, said.

At the closing ceremony of the PDIP`s national coordination meeting on Monday, former president Megawati in her capacity as PDIP chief accepted the party`s decision to nominate her for the presidency in 2009.

It is still unclear who will be Megawati`s running mate.

Kalla said the Golkar Party had yet to discuss its presidential and vice presidential candidates for 2009.

"We will discuss the matter only at the proper time. Don`t let the nation become divided over the issue," he said.
