KPA: No flag hoisting and ceremony in GAM anniversary

"We, in KPA management, reiterate that there is no any hoisting of flag and military style ceremony to commemorate the anniversary day on December 4," a spokesman for KPA, Ibrahim Syamsuddin said here on Sunday.

For GAM and KPA, December 4 was an unforgettable momentum and therefore those in KPA should keep the ongoing peace to run undisturbed, he said.

"We hope that our friends in KPA and community to jointly prevent their respective area from possible parties wishing to capitalize on the moment to tarnish and damage the peace," Ibrahim said.

"Therefore, if a GAM flag is fluttered by an individual or groups, KPA as an organization is not repsonsible for it," he said, adding his side received such a report sometime ago indicating that there would be an intention to try to capitalize the December 4 momentum on breaking the law with an aim to discredit KPA.
