Didn't Americans Invent That?
In as it may be upon the innovation of a
new product or service, the innovator assumes
a dominant position in the respective facets
of that industry. Right? Not always! Take
the humiliating example of the Internet as it
is today. Yes... the Internet was invented in
the U.S. No... Al Gore did not invent the
Internet, although he did make that claim while
serving as Vice-President. Recent reports ranks
the United States 15th in broadband deployment
among industrialized nations. But..... didn't
Americans invent the Internet? Yes they did &
now are classified as "have nots" in the sphere
of the Digital Divide. As a matter of fact,
I think the United States invented the Digital
Divide.... but, that's another story.
So... why is the inventor of the Internet a
"have not" in the Digital Divide? One answer
may be leadership... or the lack thereof.
You know there is no direction when Congress has
to create a Bill in order to make a map to discover
where they might want to go.
