"The army chief still has to explain many things with regard to the procurement of 35 pick-up cars. If need be, the fit and proper test for him should be postponed," House Commission I member Mahmub Junaedi of the National Mandate Party (PAN) said on Monday.

He made the call during a hearing between the House`s Commission I and Defense Minister Juwono Sudarsono as well as TNI Commander Marshal Djoko Suyanto.

Junaedi said the postponement was intended to give Gen Santoso a chance to explain the procurement of 35 pickup cars which were to have been reassembled into military ambulance cars.

"So, he will be able to account for everthing before he assumes the position of TNI commander," Junaedi said.
