Muhammadiyah: Thai govt should use soft power in dealing with the South
"We wish the Thai government would prioritize the soft power approach rather than hard power," Din Syamsuddin, Muhammadiyah central executive board chairman said here on Wednesday in a get together with a South Thailand delegation.
The 38-member delegation represents various circles of the Thai nation, and representatives of their foreign ministry, paid a visit to the Muhammadiyah at its headquarters in Jakarta.
Din said the hard power approach by armed force will only lead to more complicated problems.
Armed action will make all parties to suffer losses, he warned.
Din said, the soft power approach can be made by sending propagators who can convey enlightenment in their propagation.
The propagators, he said, will deliver sermons to emphasize that Islam is a religion of peace, justice and development.
