In a strange twist of events, Myanmar’s Minister of Information, Brig. Gen. Kyaw Hsan, claims that the world powers pushing for human rights and democracy in the South-east Asian country are “bullying” his small country. According to reports on CNN, Hsan lectured angrily saying, "I would like you to know that Myanmar is a small nation and if a big power bullies her ... we will have no other way but to face this and endure." as he informed that Senior Gen. Than Shwe, leader of the junta has declined to meet with UN Envoy Ibrahim Gambari. Clearly, Myanmar has reason to feel bullied, particularily after Laura Bush, schoolteacher and First Lady called for the junta to step aside.

In recent weeks however, Myanmar has brought bullying to an art form with the murder and detention of Buddhist Monks and pro-democracy demonstrators. Official numbers put the death toll at 10, but it is rumored that the number is likely significantly higher with thousands still detained.

"We want to bully our people but everyone should leave us alone and not bully us."

Pretty typical, good story.
