"(The Asian news agencies and media) need to build a solid cooperation to explain a (positive) perception on a country in Asia, like Indonesia, India or Iran," the vice president said in his directives at the opening of the General Assembly of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) at the vice presidential office here on Tuesday.
Kalla said that increasingly advanced information technology enable members of the international community to access various kinds of information easily and speedily, including information on Asia-Pacific countries.
However, he said, to provide information on the perception of a country, the media organizations need to present stories with indebt analysis.
"And this can only be achieved through cooperation among the media organizations, particularly Asia-Pacific news agencies, by laying down a joint network to explain emerging perceptions on countries in Asia and the Pacific," the vice president said.

I 'm not picking on Asia, but I would like the readers to understand something about one word.
perception
noun1. the representation of what is perceived; basic component in the formation of a concept [syn: percept] 2. a way of conceiving something; "Luther had a new perception of the Bible" 3. the process of perceiving 4. knowledge gained by perceiving; "a man admired for the depth of his perception" 5. becoming aware of something via the senses [syn: sensing]

The reason I bring this up is everything sold to you is based on the word perception.
There is a line in the Enron movie, I think it's called "The best dressed men in the room". Anyway, there is a line in the movie that says, "as long as the perception holds it is the truth"
If you watch how many times you see terms like, the percieved benefits, this comment will start to make a whole lot of sense.
It is basicaly the art of turning BULL into truth. Or more like "Percieved Truth".
The Media is nothing more than a perpetual spin cycle.
