Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Former Cambodian prime minister Norodom Ranaridh and Philippine House Speaker Jose de Venicia Jr Friday visited former president Soeharto who was being treated at Pertamina Hospital in South Jakarta.
Ranaridh and Venicia arrived at 4.25 pm and left the hospital at 5 pm.
Speaking to the press, Ranaridh said he could meet Pak Harto, who is a close friend of his farther, former prime minister Norodom Sihanouk.
"My father and the Cambodian people hope Pak Harto will recover soon," he said.
Soeharto`s health condition showed signs of improvement on the
22nd day of his hospitalization on Friday with his blood pressure reading 120-130/40-50 mmHg and hemoglobin level 10.5 grams percent.
There is also a sign of improvement in the functions of his heart and lungs.
Soeharto was rushed to the hospital on Jan 4, 2008 with severe anemia and edema. He has gone through several critical periods since then.
A few days ago, several dignitaries from neighboring countries also visited Soeharto, including former Singaporean prime minister Lee Kuan Yew, former Malaysian prime minister Mahathir Muhammad and Brunei`s King Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah. (*)
