POLITICIANS AND SILENT LAWS

Different laws in India.

Even after 50 years of independence and
democracy, law is not equal for the commoner and powerful in the country. The
police hesitate to act, when it comes to the politicians or their kith and kin
or their close circle.

 According
to a report, in Times of India dated 02/01/2008, a central Minister’s sons
indulged in eve teasing in the presence of police officials providing security to the sons of the minister. and were thrashed by the public soundly. It appears
that the police registered case of assault on police and missing weapon against those who thrashed the sons of the minister.. The
powerful minister’s sons escaped the clutches of law. A commoner found eve
teasing would have been arrested, detained and harassed by the Police. The laws
that apply to commoner are not applicable to the powerful and the mighty. Not only
that the laws remain in letter only for even the kith and kin of the powerful
people like ministers in India.

If you are a minister’s son, you can get away
with any thing. In India there are two sets of laws. One for the powerful and
the other for the powerless. It is a shame on Indian democracy in practice that
treats politicians and their kith and kin above the law.
